The Dorchester Family YMCA added the beautiful heated pool in 2000, and it has been busy with programs ever since. We strive to keep the water temperature at 83 degrees. All of these classes are included in your membership!

Water Based Group Fitness Classes
AFAYP- Arthritis YMCA Aquatic Program for people with arthritis and related conditions. Exercise without excess strain through gentle activities in warm water.
Aqua Circuit combination of cardio & strength training through a series of stations and aquatic equipment for a total body workout.
Aqua ZUMBA- all the fun of Zumba poolside. Water adds extra resistance while supporting joints and muscles from too much impact. (Gold version for seniors).
Master Swim Club a non-competitive swim club for adults of wide-ranging swim abilities and goals. Planned workouts help keep the laps challenging and fun.
Senior Water Exercise- Performed in the shallow end. Includes low impact exercises. Great for beginners and those who love the water.
Senior Aqua Circuit- combination of cardio & strength training through a series of stations and aquatic equipment for a total body workout. For 55 and above.
Water Aerobics- aerobic workout that supports body and reduces risk of injury. Pool helps reduce overheating for participants with concerns.
Open Swim - Bring the kids, enjoy some family time or just come enjoy the pool on your own. The YMCA does require that any child 12 or under be accompanied by a parent or guardian or somone over 21. Check pool schedule for open swim times.
Family Swim - Family swim is designed so that parents, grandparents and the whole family can enjoy the refreshing pool together.
Lap Swimming - Lap swimming is considered one of the best exercises for keeping in shape. We try to have lap lanes available for swimmers most of our open pool hours. Even during classes or swim lessons we try to have at least two lanes available. *SWIM TEAM PRACTIVE LIMITS LANE AVAILABILITY

Swim Lessons - Classes are held year round in the indoor heated pool. Ages begin at 6 months and go through adults. Please see our Swim Lessons Page for more information. Private lessons are also available.
DCY Swim Club - The YMCA age group swim club's season is September through March. During our inaugural year DCY Swim Club will not be competing, the goals of the club are to build a core group of children who are interested in achieving competitive success. Therefore we will stress the importance of practices and self-discipline to acclimate our swimmers to the world of competitive swimming. Our club will also promote teamwork, friendships and fun that go hand-and-hand with the sport.
