YMCAs are first and foremost volunteer organizations. All 2,594 YMCAs are volunteer-founded, volunteer-based, and volunteer-led.
The Dorchester Family YMCA is not an exception. Volunteers from all aspects of the Cambridge area community are involved in every aspect of the YMCA’s operation.
The basic definition of a YMCA volunteer is "anyone who willingly gives time to help the YMCA accomplish its mission without getting paid by the YMCA."
As a YMCA volunteer, you can lead an exercise class, teach a craft or read to our after school or camp program, coach a youth sports team team, assist in planning a special event such as the Crab Run Half Marathon & 5K or the Heart of the Chesapeake Ride, help out during a special event, or be part of a group or committee working a YMCA committee.
No matter how you help, you'll make a big difference as you work with others to create a feeling of connectedness in our community. Your time and talent go a long way. Help the YMCA make Dorchester County a stronger community.
At this time we are looking for adult volunteers who are willing to provide valuable assistance with planning our 2016 Crab Run and Heart of the Chesapeake Bike Tour. These event committees typically meet once a month leading up the event and many volunteer on the day of the event.
