Leadership

Dear Y Members and Community Friends,

The challenges that we face in Dorchester County are many. People of all ages and backgrounds are struggling to reach their full potential. More and more children face seemingly insurmountable learning gaps. Families find it difficult to spend quality time together. Playing outside has become a rarity (except at the Y’s summer camp program). Face time happens through a phone. And instead of seeing the income gap shrink, it seems all we do is watch it grow.

But where society falls short, the Y – and donors like you – step in. The Y provides everyone the opportunity to be healthy and thrive, to connect with others, and contribute to a better community. That’s our mission….youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. But only with your support can we make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

This summer, our YMCA campers are learning the words to a song by Rachel Kurzt. We want to instill in our campers, along with the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility….a level of hope…hope that they can make a difference in the world in which they live, whatever their gifts and talents may be.

  • I want my life to make a difference.
  • I want my life to make a change.
  • I want my life to do some good here.
  • I want my life to make a change.

Thank you for your support of our YMCA in this community. Thank you for joining with us to affect change….because together, we can make a difference…for a better community….for a better us.

Sincerely,
