Time to register for the 2015 Poor Boy Open Fishing Tournament on Saturday, September 5.
This year the after party will be held at Ferry Point Marina just over the Choptank River Bridge in Trappe. Proceeds will benefit the Dorchester County Family YMCA in Cambridge, MD.
Never heard of the event...well the event was created by Composite Yacht to “even the playing field” for fishing tournaments. To make if fair, everyone receives a pink Barbie fishing rod, which they MUST use.

Dorchester Hurricanes....You won’t know what hit ya! Join the Dorchester County YMCA’s Hurricanes Swim Club!

The purpose of the Dorchester Hurricanes is to develop the skills it requires to become a competitive swimmer. Those skills include stroke techniques, starts from a 1 meter dive block, flip turns, and endurance swimming. A large portion of this program will also involve building strong character in each swimmer and instilling YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in each swimmer.
To Join the Dorchester Hurricanes each swimmer must:
- Be at least 7 years of age;
- Able to swim 50 yards without stopping of freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke;
- Have proper swim attire recommended for this program; one piece suit for girls; jammer for boys, as well as proper swim goggles; AND
- Attend a minimum of 2 practices per week or 70% of the practices overall
The program will run for 7 months and practices will take place at the YMCA.
Program Begins/Ends: Tuesday September 15, 2015 to Saturday March 26, 2016
Practice Times: Tuesdays/Thursdays practices from 7 - 8pm Saturday’s practices from 10 - 11am

Youth Soccer at the Dorchester County Family YMCA will focus on the basic fundamentals of soccer while incorporating fun games and instruction along the way.
